Skype has never been Open Source, just Free.

But in the long run, we have to be prepared for Open Source products
being acquired by the big corporations. The market is actively seeking
Open Source Software and the biggies know it. Only prayer is that the
companies that buy Open Source products do not kill it or make it closed
source.
